With a name that balances the duality of the iridescent brilliance of the seven seas with the fierce intelligence of women around the world, Brilliant Lady, our fourth ship in the fleet, bursts onto the scene with a bright and lively intent, ready to take you around the world.

Along with Scarlet, Valiant and Resilient Lady, we are delighted to welcome our fourth lady ship to the Virgin Voyages fleet. 

Like her three sisters before her, we have been very careful in choosing her name, ensuring that the name we give her represents not only her, but also the values and beliefs we hold so dear. And since we have set out to continually create a bright and radiant experience for our sailors, just like the shimmering seas she will sail, it was only fitting that our fourth ship reflect that (yes, the pun is fully intended). So it is an honor to introduce Brilliant Lady to the fleet. 

Brilliance - meaning both radiance and exceptional talent and intelligence - was purposely chosen because of the duality of its meaning. We aim, on each of our sailings, to offer our sailors a radiant experience, an experience so resplendent that they can't help but glow when they return home; matched only by the luminous stars above and the glittering sea below. 

But our name goes far beyond the vivid, incandescent glow of the sea and the inevitable post-holiday afterglow we aim to give our Sailors. Each and every one of our ships carries a beautiful, strong mermaid at the helm, and Brilliant Lady will be no different. So, while we were thinking about the strength and resilience we've touched on with our other mermaids, we also wanted to highlight the powerful intelligence of women everywhere.

Because in a world where women are still fighting for their place at the table, intelligence is something they are often taught not to claim. Women are taught to be beautiful, patient and strong, and those are often traits we are allowed to possess. But being smart, being absolutely brilliant, is a trait that women can rarely celebrate without fear of being called arrogant. Without fear of being “too much.” No fear, period. 

While, on the other hand, men are traditionally encouraged to claim their intelligence; they are rightly considered to be confident and know their worth. Our Brilliant Lady represents the intelligent, thoughtful and transgressive minds of women everywhere, who are not afraid to own their intelligence, are aware of its importance and are in touch with their own sense of worth.

So as we welcome our new lady to the fleet, we do so loudly and proudly. And while her siren and all her glittering destinies are yet to come, we are very excited for her arrival. And we can't wait to tell you more about her and all the places she's going, (very, very) soon.
